Integrated Humanitarian Aid Through Life-Saving Food Assistance, Emergency Shelter, NFIs,and WASH Support in Gubadley District.

Project Overview
KARDO AID, with support from Secours Islamique France (SIF), implemented an integrated humanitarian response project in Gubadley District, Banadir Region, Somalia, from September to November 2025. The project aimed to address the urgent needs of internally displaced persons (IDPs) affected by conflict and displacement through life-saving interventions in food security, emergency shelter, non-food items (NFIs), and WASH services.

The intervention targeted the most vulnerable displaced households living in six IDP camps, providing immediate assistance that improved food security, restored dignity, enhanced shelter conditions, and increased access to safe water and sanitation services.

  • Registered and verified 280 vulnerable households using vulnerability-based targeting

  • Distributed food assistance packages to 280 households.
  • Provided emergency shelter materials, including plastic sheets and ropes.
  • Distributed NFI kits containing sleeping mats and blankets.
  • Supplied Aquatabs for household water treatment.
  • Constructed 6 communal emergency latrines, including one accessible latrine for persons
  • with disabilities.
  • Distributed hygiene kits to beneficiary households.
  • Trained 5 community hygiene promoters.
  • Conducted 60 hygiene promotion and awareness sessions across targeted camps.
