Building Resilient Communities Across Somalia
Kaalmo relief and development organization (KARDO AID) is a non-profit, non-political and nongovernmental organization founded in 2012 by humanitarian and development practitioners to contribute to the reduction of poverty in the Federal republic of Somalia.
KARDO AIDs existence is premised on the believe that both men and women can play a crucial role in building better economic, social, political and cultural institutions of not only their community but the country at large. To realize this vision KARDO AID engages highly diverse generation of men, women and girls, the youth and the marginalized, mobilizes them, equips them with knowledge and skills that enable them to actively engage in community development in a bottom-up approach. KARDO AID’s work is spread among six sectors in Somalia namely Shelter, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), food security (agriculture and livelihoods), Nutrition and health, human rights and protection and education, across the regions of Banadir, Middle and Lower Shabelle, Bay, Gedo, Lower Juba and Hiran regions.
