Kaalmo Relief and Development Organization (KARDO AID), in partnership with Secours Islamique France (SIF), has officially launched its Integrated Humanitarian Aid Project in Gubadley District with a high-level inception meeting at the District Commissioner’s office.
The meeting brought together key stakeholders, including the District Commissioner and his team, community leaders, camp management committees, women’s groups. Participants reviewed the project objectives, target groups, and expected results, and jointly endorsed the implementation plan.
The three-month project, running from 1 September to 30 November 2025, will provide life-saving food assistance, emergency shelter and non-food items (NFIs), and critical WASH support to at least 280 displaced households—reaching more than 1,600 individuals affected by conflict in neighboring Middle Shabelle region.
A community-based project implementation committee has been formed to ensure transparent targeting and active participation of the most vulnerable groups, including women, children, people with disabilities, and the elderly.
“Today’s launch demonstrates our shared commitment to respond swiftly and effectively to the urgent humanitarian needs in Gubadley,” said Abdullahi Nor, District Commissioner. “He specifically thanked SIF and KARDO AID for their continuous efforts to stand with vulnerable populations.”
Adan Abdulle, KARDO AID Director General, added: “With SIF’s support and the strong engagement of local authorities and communities, we are confident this project will save lives and restore dignity to families displaced by conflict.”
Speaking on behalf of the newly formed project implementation committee, Abdullahi Ahmed Idow Community Representative, expressed appreciation: “We are grateful to see our voices included from the start. This project gives hope to families who have lost everything and shows that our concerns matter in shaping the response.”
The initiative directly aligns with national cluster guidelines and supports KARDO AID’s five-year strategy. By combining emergency food distribution, shelter/NFI assistance, and hygiene promotion, the project aims to reduce suffering, prevent disease, and lay the groundwork for early recovery.
