Background & Need for the Project

Access to clean and safe drinking water remains a major challenge in Jowhar and surrounding areas. Many families rely on contaminated water sources, leading to widespread waterborne diseases such as cholera, typhoid, and dysentery. Women and children often travel long distances daily to fetch water, exposing them to risks such as gender-based violence and school absenteeism.

To combat these challenges, KARDO AID launched the Safe Water Access Project, ensuring that vulnerable communities have reliable and sustainable access to clean drinking water.

Project Goals

✔ Install and rehabilitate boreholes, hand pumps, and water wells in communities suffering from severe water shortages.
✔ Establish solar-powered water supply systems for sustainable and eco-friendly access to clean water.
✔ Train local water management committees to ensure proper maintenance of water infrastructure.
✔ Conduct community-wide hygiene and sanitation awareness programs to educate families on the importance of clean water.
✔ Distribute water purification tablets and hygiene kits to families in high-risk areas.
